Social-Psychological Service of the charity
To support children who experienced psychological stresses, the Social-Psychological Service has been established by “You are not alone” children’s charity. It provides legal and psychological assistance to children, as well carries out investigations in cases of infringement of children's rights in orphanages, boarding schools and other institutions. The cases are examined by a group of experts, including legal experts, psychologists and pedagogues.
The priority in providing qualified assistance is given to under-aged children, who have for several reasons no documents or place to live in.
The main directions of activities of the Service include:
- Assistance in getting back illegally lost domiciles to children from Mercy houses for orphan children;
- Assistance in reinstatement of residence permit for alumnus of Mercy houses for orphan children;
- Assistance in placement to Mercy houses children, left without parental or other family members’ care;
- Assistance in reinstatement of property rights of children from Mercy houses for orphan children;
- Assistance in annulment of parental rights in regards to children, who are under state guardianship in Mercy houses;
- Assistance in stating alumnus of Mercy houses into waiting list for obtaining social domiciles from mayor's offices;
- Assistance in employment;
- Financial assistance to alumnus of Mercy houses, low-income groups, in need of medical assistance, handicapped persons from birth.
The Service has already examined plenty of cases, having enabled, as of November 2009, 58 young people to get a place to live in – returning previously lost right to get an apartment; 40 under-aged have got residence permits; retrieved the identification documents for 60 former orphans and helped many young people in finding jobs. Social-Psychological Service also took an active part in court sessions on annulment of parental rights and obtaining a status of “orphan”, as well as on reinstatement of inheritance rights and employment of Mercy houses’ alumnus. Such as, in 2008 over 20 Mercy houses’ alumnus of Akkurgan specialized boarding school located in Tashkent region were employed and provided with a domicile. Financial assistance for medical treatment, surgeries, medicines, prosthetic appliances, invalid carriages for a total amount of 28 million UzS has been provided by the Service up to Nov. 2009. A total of 12 families were covered by an assistance of the Service in obtaining domicile, job and identification documents. Over 30 under-aged children from these families were placed into schools.
