Creating a Better Outlook for the Children

A series of events over the past years have all helped raise awareness of children. “You are a Human Being”, nationwide PR campaign organized in 2003, have been called to help in drawing attention to the plight of children in the orphanages. This campaign included a painting competition among the children from orphanages at the Central Exhibition Hall of the Art Academy in Uzbekistan. The exhibition today is an annual event and is known as "All the Colours of the Rainbow". It also includes a trip of children to the mountains and other cultural activities.

In May 2004 a nationwide media campaign, named "I Have a Right to be Happy" was launched as a way of drawing attention to the children from Mehribonlik houses, their rights and needs. As a direct result of this campaign a further nationwide contest was launched to find the best Mehribonlik in Uzbekistan as a means of creating pride and prestige for the homes and their teachers. This too has become an annual event and has helped create a greater positive experience for those working in the homes and a better perception among the public for the work done in the homes.

In May 2005 a concert was held in Paris at the Olympe de Gouges Hall where children from the Mehribonlik orphanages in Uzbekistan under the name Tamosha performed for diplomats, public and charitable organizations which work with disadvantaged children, the Ministries of National Education and Research and Youth in France together with Friends of Uzbekistan in France attended.

The charity initiated organization of the National contests on “The Best Mercy house” and “The Best Tutor of a Mercy house”. Organized for the first time in 2004, it became annual. The main aim of the contest is to attract public attention to Mercy houses, increase the prestige of the profession of tutor of the Mercy houses, sharing and promotion of the most successful experience, creation of worthy conditions for all-rounded development of orphan children and children, left without parental care. The contest covers all Mercy houses of Uzbekistan.
