Story of Dmitriy P., from one of Tashkent Mercy houses
“The first word of Dima, who started speaking at the age of 4 was “Mummy” and it was addressed to Lola Karimova” – tells Svetlana Ruzmukhamedova, Director of the Mercy house, where Dima lives. “He was referred to our Mercy house with deafness diagnosis and we were afraid that he will stay deaf and muteness for a life-long. The specialists of “You are not alone” charity insisted on additional medical expertise to reassert the diagnosis. They took him to eminent doctors and psychologists. As it was concluded the boy had some problems with hearing, but was not completely deaf. As a consequence, he had a retard in intellectual development. Speech therapists started to work with Dima. Lola Karimova herself worked with him as a psychologist. After few years of therapy Dima began not only speaking, but also singing, as well studying at school with his peers. Today Dima is one of the brightest and the most cheerful children in our Mercy house and I can not imagine, what could happen to him, if Dima had not been treated at the initiative of the Fund” – she said.
Story of Sveta Ya., from one of Tashkent Mercy houses
Little Sveta had a very unusual disease – celiachia, which requires gluten-free diet. The disease is so rare that doctors that were examining a girl, could not prescribe right therapy and diet. Sveta became imaginably thin and sick. The Mercy house tutors informed about this newly adopted girl to people from “Sen Yolg’iz Emassan” charity. Soon, at the initiative of Lola Karimova, with the assistance of foreign specialists, Sveta was prescribed with a detailed therapy and a special gluten-free diet. The charity assisted in undergoing necessary treatment and providing Sveta with required medicine and special foodstuffs. The therapy started yielding good results. After few years of a strict diet, doctors recommended to slowly start adding gluten products. Today Sveta can eat almost everything, which is allowed to her peers. She studies at school, go in for sports. Moreover, at the republican Special Olympics Sveta won the bronze medal on rhythmic gymnastics.
Story of Igor Danilov, alumni of one of Tashkent Mercy houses
Igor become an orphan at the age of 3. At the Mercy house Igor grow up curious and hard-working. He was one the first participants of the charity group on preparation of talented children form Mercy houses to enter colleges and universities. The charity in conjunction with the Ministry of higher and secondary specialized education of Uzbekistan organized preparatory courses at the Academic lyceum of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. After graduating from the lyceum, he successfully passed entry exams to the subsidiary of Moscow State University in Tashkent. As a present to celebrate this achievement, besides personal grant, Lola Karimova presented up-to-date computer to Igor.
